Hello,
I am a flight instructor who is interested in finding information on how to simulate a partial panel auto pilot coupled non precision approach on the Cirrus SR20 that uses the avidyne software. I have been teaching two techniques. One is by dimming the PFD using the brightness control and the other is by popping the circuit breaker. When dimming the PFD, I control my altitude using the knob after selecting the VSI bezel key from which by experience i know the knob gives m 50 fpm. When I pop the circuit breaker i can control the altitude using the autopilot vertical speed and altitude hold. Is this a recommended procedure by the FAA since we don't have any publication we can use to teach like the G1000 examiners guide? E.K.M
