I just bought a 2007 Cessna T182T with G1000 and a TAS600 installed. The TAS600 is integrated into the G1000 and also has an on/off switch and mute button on the instrument panel. The installation was completed and certified in 2009. On receiving the airplane the TAS600 does not seem to be operational and shows a DATA PATH FAIL on the G1000 traffic screen. I also do not hear any audio traffic annunciations. The current G1000 software rev is 0563.26. Any ideas on what might be the issue? Also, I am looking at adding a Garmin GTX345R ADS-B receiver. How would this receiver integrate with the TAS600 and or the G1000? Would duplicate targets show up? Thanks!

Paul,
When the G1000 gives a "Data Path Fail," it's been my experience either it is expecting data that it isn't getting. There are a lot of things that could cause that, but also knowing how much fun it is to get to the GIA's on a G1000 equipped 182, I'd start by having a shop make sure there's not a bent pin at GIA#2. There is an extensive series of tests a qualified avionics shop can do on the TAS unit with a laptop connected. As I understand the GTX345 takes the traffic from our TAS and provides a composite signal, so there shouldn't be any duplicates. Though, I admit I have very little knowledge of the 345r, as all of my dealings have been with the panel mount version. I would direct that question to Garmin, who should be able to answer with certainty.
