Can someone tell me where Avidyne specifies the 429 data protocol between the GTX345 and the 540?

How does this work if there is an EX5000 MFD in the setup? The 345 needs to talk to it using the same rs422 output port, but with a different format.

Now I've been approved for posting, what is the purpose of the RS-232 line going from the GTX-345 pin 8 to the IFD pin 57?
Thanks, John.

Mine is wired like that but both ports are turned off so I guess nothing.

Well, the line from the IFD to the 345 should be for GPS position source for ADS-B.
I too have turned off the 345->IFD and haven't noticed anything yet not working but it's also waiting to be flown after the install. John |

So, just to bring this full circle after speaking to Avidyne Tech Support.
For 10.2.3.1, the Installation manual has been updated to cover the GTX-345. Below is the wiring: The settings are indicated as follows: That should clean all this up. John

Question.....
If you don't have the AIRINC line between the GTX-345 and the IFD, does the RS-422 line carry wx and traffic from the GTX-345? If using the setting "Capstone HS Wx+Trfc" would I get both wx and traffic on the display? Is there any difference in the data stream between the AIRINC and RS-422? John PS: My reading seems to indicate that the GTX-345 RS-422 stream when set to "OPT LGCY ADSB" is the GDL-90 protocol...... but there is little information on this.

OK - so I tried to set "Capstone HS Wx+Traffic" as the receive protocol on the IFD and now have both displayed via the RS-232 line. No 429 line required.

I get traffic over the ARINC 429 line from the GTX 345
In a one hour flight I get the TIS-B with the red circle and slash through it more than I get the traffic It clears itself for a while but then fails again. Anyone know why ?

Could be that you are not picking up a station, If you are in the middle of nowhere, sometimes mine will go out or say degraded.
