I’m wondering if the IFD and Garmin Pilot app will ever become compatible. Maybe there’s been some progress behind the scenes? I’ve never really considered Garmin’s app before, but if the sale to Thoma Bravo goes through and ForeFlight becomes less appealing, it’d be good to have a solid backup EFB.

I do not see Garmin ever voluntarily collaborating with Avidyne, any more than I ever see Ford and Chevy or Coke and Pepsi doing so.

If you're thinking about switching apps, consider IFLY EFB.  I've now used it
for several years.  It's great, and integrates nicely with the Avidynes, uploading
and downloading flight plans.  I've no connection to IFLY  or Adventure Pilot other than
a happy customer.
