When configuring the Stratus SSID to connect to in Maintenance Mode, make sure that the setting for the stratus SSID is changed from local WiFi to remote WiFi.

After pressing the "Send to Panel" button and waiting a while, I get an error message: "Unable: IFD became unresponsive". The problem may be related to the larger issue that has caused me to send this brand-new unit back to the factory in exchange for a replacement. I'll be curious to see whether the replacement unit has the same issue with transferring flight plans.

If others with Stratus II as the active router have succeeded in tranferring flight plans, it would be evidence your difficulty can be overcome once the mistake has been found. If others have the same problems, it's evidence there is an incompatibility with the hardware that cannot be resolved at this time. Without reading this or prior threads, I assume others with Stratus II have no problem transferring flight plans using Stratus II as the WiFi router. In that case, if the replacement IFD does not help, it would suggest the problem is with your Stratus, your iPad, or in the setup for any of the three devices involved. Make sure there are no other WiFi routers active in the cockpit other than Stratus when attempting flight plan transfers. I use the IFD as the active WiFi router, and the transfer of flight plans to and from ForeFlight works fine most often. The actual ability to do that is delayed for a time after the WiFi connection has been established. Apparently the software in both the IFD and ForeFlight requires some procedures to complete before the link to transfer flight plans becomes active. Often, one direction becomes available first, then the other. It does not take more than 5 minutes, and typically only like 1 or 2 minutes. Rarely, I become impatient and just enter the flight plan manually in whichever unit needs updating.

I have a Stratus 2s set up as the access point. All works as it should with FF, so it is a supported configuration. Recently FF "hid" the upload/download route functions under the Share and the Device sub menus. Was a little puzzled until I figured that out. * Orest

It seems my suspicions were justified. Avidyne overnighted a replacement IFD540 and I installed it last night. Fired it up and connected it to my Stratus II. The new unit immediately began uploading flight plans from ForeFlight via the Stratus hub. So it appears the problem was with the defective unit I replaced after all. As soon as I replaced it with a new 540, the system began working as advertised.
Thanks for your help!
