When sitting still on the ramp and loading a flightplan if I play with the 440 and select a direct to one of the waypoints, when I hit enter twice, everything disappears from the map except the direct to waypoint. What am I doing wrong. This does not happen when using the simulator.

Thanks,
Jamie

What is the flight plan you are using, when you encounter this.

60R TNV KDWH. Then ask direct KDWH. Everything disappears on the map except KDWH. Just one example but anytime I try to bypass a portion of flightplan and go direct, everything from map disappears. Probably operator error but I sure can't figure it out. The same plan on simulator works like it should. Do I have to be moving for it to work?

Thanks,
Jamie

I haven't tried this, but since in the simulator you are already "flying", the flight plan is basically always active.  On the ramp, unless you've activated the flight plan, I'd guess that "Direct To" effectively wipes the flight plan and creates a new "Direct To".   "Direct to" on an active flight plan simply goes to that segment, at least when I select the waypoint from the flight plan.

I think AzAv has hit it on the head. If your flight plan is not yet activated, you are probably just overwriting it with the DCT to.

I was puzzled by this happening - until I noticed that the flightplan is awaiting activation on the lower left corner softkey. Since the aircraft is 'sitting on the ramp', the flight has not yet begun as far as the navigator is concerned - no magenta line. If you begin moving, and actually take off, the flightplan is automatically activated and the first leg turns magenta. You can then select a waypoint and 'go direct'. If you do this on the ground before activating the entered plan, this new 'direct' request becomes the active flightplan and the line to that point becomes magenta.
