I live on a Private Airpark in North Florida (Haller Airpark 7FL4). As 7FL4 is not currently in the database, I created a User Waypoint 7FL4, just as I did with the 430W.

This works when going to Haller, as the 440 will accept Direct to the 7FL4 user waypoint.

However, when I attempt to do a flight plan from 7FL4, the original waypoint will not except Haller field 7FL4.

When attempting to bypass the original, and just use a waypoint the flight plan looks ok, but when I take off from my airstrip and engage the autopilot, the autopilot wants to turn the airplane 180 degrees back to the 7FL4 user waypoint.

I talked to the Avidyne folks and the fix for me was to add 7FL4 to the next Jeppesen database (I hope this happens), but I cannot be the only one here with an IDF box that is based on a private airstrip. How do you deal with this anomaly?

Did you make the user waypoint an "AIRPORT" waypoint? Procedure is in the manual. A departure airport has special properties in the flight strip

If that doesn't work for some reason, then the other solution, is to activate the route LEG, then you can intercept it, it won't turn back to the first waypoint.

A "user waypoint airport" can't be an origin in the flightplan.  Only airports in the database can be an origin.

Yes, activate the first leg before departure.

When Steve starts the thread for the next release, being able to have a "user waypoint airport" as the origin would be a good addition.

Send an e-mail to captain@jeppesen.com and they'll include your private airport in their database. They are very responsive to that.

I heard from Tom Harper regarding your situation last week.  I already contacted Jeppesen and have confirmation that 7FL4 will be included in cycle 1903.

Ok, I am new to this box, so maybe missing something but I do activate the Flight Plan before take off. Autopilot still wants to do a 180 and head back to the user waypoint. Just for grins I let the airplane track back to the airstrip. As soon as it crossed the waypoint it then turned 180 and started tracking to the next waypoint in the flight plan.

You need to activate the first "LEG" of the flight plan.  Did you look at the thread:
http://forums.avidyne.com/waypoint-as-origin-on-flight-plan_topic1677.html

Since a "user waypoint" cannot be an origin, the "user waypoint" must be entered as the first flightplan waypoint.  That is a "TO" waypoint not a "from" as the origin is.  To activate the first leg, highlight the second flightplan waypoint and press the "Activate Leg" LSK.

Good idea! I’ll start using that

To fix this problem at home, I have created  a user way point 100' off the end of each of our runways. I put that in as the first way point in my flight plan after the origin.
Works great.
