Time to mail your torches & pitchforks to support@foreflight.com again.

What kind of IFD support? I am able to upload & download flight plans from FF.

Are you looking for the IFD ADS-B IN to be shown in FF?

Sorry; I whine about this so much I wrongly assumed everyone knew what I was referring to.

Yes, I want FF to receive and display ADS-B traffic and weather data from the IFD. As you know, it already supports bidirectional flight plan transfer and GPS position streaming.

Yep, It's been a problem for quite awhile. Foreflight seems to have very little interest in adding this feature.

Per Avi the WiFi out of the IFDs is Capstone format, so even though Capstone has flavors and versions, is it really that much of a life for FF?

And that is why I continue to rely on the Lynx NGT-9000 for traffic and weather on Foreflight (and it is dual-band in).  Just wished that it would function reliably as a WIFI server with the IFD (it works for a while and then loses connection).

I just kicked off my email to support@foreflight.com asking if they had any plans to add WX and TFC support for IFD's.  I mentioned how pretty much every other EFB on the market can receive weather from my IFD, except ForeFlight.

I doubt the email will do any good by itself, so we'd get better traction if all of us running IFD's and ForeFlight could send them a reminder of how much we'd like this feature.

FF does tend to listen, but a chorus does make a firmer impression.

Here's the latest response to my e-mail to ForeFlight today. Hopefully it won't be long. At least they say they are looking at the problem, which is more than what they have said in response to previous e-mails.

Robin here. Thank you for reaching out to us again regarding this issue. I just check with engineering and they reported back that they have made progress towards resolving this issue, but I do not have a timeline to offer on when a solution will be implemented. I've also shared your comments with the team that is working on that project.

Best regards,

Heres the reply I got from Foreflight:

Hi Lynn,

Mads here, from the ForeFlight support team.

Thanks for the email. We are aware of the need for ForeFlight to be able to receive weather and traffic from Avidyne IFD, and we have an internal case purely dedicated to this.

That being said, I can't give you any timeframe to when it will be possible to integrate Avidyne with ForeFlight. But I'll tally your vote towards this feature request.

I suggest that you follow our [blog]( https://blog.foreflight.com/?_ga=2.255492552.1967904885.1543216101-156322716.1542353424" rel="nofollow - https://blog.foreflight.com/?_ga=2.255492552.1967904885.1543216101-156322716.1542353424 ) for any new updates.

Let me know if you have any questions. We're happy to help.

Have a great weekend.

Good to see that the replies weren't boilerplate identical.

Just to add ... the flight plan transfer has been flawed (need to check latest release). The origin in FF becomes the first waypoint in IFD. They acknowledge this after a bit of back and forth and suggest it will be fixed sometime.

So the reply I got was similar to everyone elses

<<Jeb here. Thank you for reaching out to us again regarding this issue. I just check with engineering and they reported back that they have made progress towards resolving this issue, but I do not have a timeline to offer on when a solution will be implemented. I've also shared your comments with the team that is working on that project.>>

I didn't rest there.  I then asked if that meant " it is only a question of time but it will happen?"

His reply was encouraging:

<<That is correct. This is a known issue that our team is working to resolve but do not have a timeline on when that feature will be available.>>

So I guess, in time this will be corrected and available to us.

Emailed and offered a bribe of homemade cookies. Here's the response I got: "Raymond here. Thank you for flying with ForeFlight. I'll tally your vote that we add support for it in the future, but only if you bake cookies for the whole Team. jk"

This may belong in a different thread. Apologies if so.

I can transfer flight plans from Foreflight to my 540 but can't seem to figure out getting them from the IFD to Foreflight.

Tips appreciated.

The problem I’ve had with transfers between the IFD and ForeFlight were related to also having the IFD-100 app (perhaps also the IFD Trainer app) running at the same time as ForeFlight. The transfer only works in one direction with ForeFlight, but I can’t remeber which way.

Avidyne is working on a fix.

I can transfer flight plans both ways.  When you first try to transfer from the IFD to FF, you will get an error message.  Just repeat the request and it will transfer on the 2nd attempt.  I believe this is the fix that Avidyne might be working on?  I had the same question months ago until someone pointed this out to me.

When I have the IFD-100 app running, only one direction is available when you press the transfer symbol in ForeFlight. The other direction simply doesn’t show up as an option. There is no failure or error message.

Where is the symbol or location to transfer on the IFD?

If there's no flight plan in Foreflight, there's no symbol to transfer to or from Foreflight.

Do instructions appear anywhere in writing?  Pilots Guide? Book?

Teeth,

What specific steps do you take to transfer from the IFD to FF?

Posted By: HenryM

When my iPad is connected to the IFD network, there’s a symbol at the top of ForeFlight that when pressed offers two options - transfer to the IFD or transfer to FF. I haven’t checked if the symbols vary depending on whether flightllans are entered into either device.

In FF, go into Other, and check Devices. Ensure that you are seeing the IFD listed there.

If so, (after a short delay following connection) you should see the little icon at the top of the map page, in FF, that Henry describes.

I'm a little late in responding but the steps are exactly as Orest and Henry describe.

The xfer from the IFD to FF works like a charm, making the route the active FPL in FF including replacing any already active FPL.

In the other direction, one may need to take a bit of care depending on how many routes are saved.
1) The xfer from FF to the IFD saves the route under the "orig TO dest" route name. The route then needs to be selected and activated. I consider this to be a good thing. Replacing an active route in the air could be dangerous. However, the IFD does not position the cursor over the newly added route; it just says that the route is ready. If you already have one or more routes with the same orig-dest, then it will be necessary to scroll through the list looking for the one that was transferred, and if there was already one (or more) with the same name, then each needs to be opened looking for the right one. However, the routes created via the FPL tab on the IFD are "orig-dest" named while those coming from FF are "orig TO dest" so there is a slight difference when searching.....
2) If there are many routes in the IFD, it may be necessary to do some significant scrolling to get the to desired transferred route.
Neither of these considerations are of concern to anyone who keeps the route list in the IFD short and/or empty.

The "transfer successful on the second attempt" issue was fixed a couple of Foreflight releases ago.   Are you still getting that?  We're working on a fix for the problem where FF and IFD100 conflict with each other when both apps are running.

As soon as foreflight adds support to show my ADS-B info from the IFD440 in my 235 and the IFD550 in my Lance I will purchase foreflight.   Till then I use only the IFD100 app, or IFLY GPS on my Android phone connected to my Stratux box as a backup system.

All is well.  I connected the device (Stratus) properly and it worked as advertised.  Thanks.

New issue. Pairing the keyboard to the 540.  Instructions say to go to Maintenance mode on the 540.

Pilots guide has no mention of Maintenance mode in the index.

Comments?

Although Maintenance mode isn't referenced in the Index, it's clearly addressed. on page 6-56 of the Guide.

Sorry for all the questions. Brand new owner.
