Just got an email from Jepp saying that they've revamped their website, and we can now purchase plans from the "Boeing Services Marketplace." I haven't tried it (and wasn't going to, as I am not due for renewal until April 2020), but if you have tried it, please leave your feedback here. As an optimist by nature, I prefer to imagine that the new site will be a big improvement over what we had before.

The new site WILL BE a big improvement but at this time it is a work in progress (the very beginning of the work).  There is really nothing you can do on this site yet and I believe they launched it a bit early before it is capable of doing anything useful.

How can you be so sure? Honest question.

I’ll get my new subscription at Oshkosh, they generally offer some minimal discount.

Probably because it couldn't get any worse.  The old site often had bad data on it and I couldn't never actually make a purchase on that site.  The only thing the old site did for me was to provide a number for me to call.

I tried to find the database update information on their new site, and so far I am unsuccessful. It also doesn't take my userid, but if I try to create it again, it tells me it already exists ...

There is always a way to make things worse!

Orest,  You have a point there.  I guess I can't be sure but I did speak with someone at Jepp who I've dealt with for a long time and trust.  She said they recognized that the old site was useless and the plan is to be able to see all the possible subscriptions and past orders on the new site and be able to place orders there.   She said this will be a work in progress and will take some time which made me want to ask why they didn't wait to unveil it until it was complete but I didn't.  So far the new site has my N number, account number, and contact phone number.  There is a place for past orders but that won't populate until an order is placed after the launch of the new site.

All good. We wait expectantly.

Pretty much every page on the new website gives me a 404 error. A bit of a shame that we have to rely on this shambles of a company for our nav data!

It really is amazing how they can manage to put together high quality data products, yet utterly fail in so many of their business efforts.

Only a company with zero competition could get away with such poor performance for so long.

I chatted with a service rep to see where I could see their current database plans. Their reply:

To order services like Navdata, and electronic charts please call 303-328-4030 or call 800-621-5377 option 2 or email  mailto:Captain@jeppesen.com" rel="nofollow - Captain@jeppesen.com . Those services are not yet available on the website at this time.

My question is why they would launch a new website & brag about it and it doesn’t work!!  Ceases to amaze me...perhaps Avidyne can communicate to the new Boeing company they have a lot of unhappy customers at Jeppesen!!!

I think Boeing may have bigger things to worry about right now.
