Set up an lpv approach and naving directly to the course reversal waypoint. 540 showed correctly a teardrop entry with hashed track path.  Approaching waypoint received an alert for parallel entry ( not correct entry) while still showing the hashed teardrop.  Aircraft continued past waypoint to do a parallel entry.  Had to go to heading mode to accomplish teardrop.  Aircraft would not nav the teardrop and gpss steering did not work until established on inbound.   Any similar scenarios?   Thanks, Phil

Phil,
Not the same scenario using an autopilot,  but not uncommonly I find the depicted entry
to the holding patterns to be "wrong"  from the way I was taught and the way I want to do it.
Once you correct it manually, the algorithm figures it out and corrects itself......just like Google Maps
when you've made an  "alternate choice"  driving.

prob not important -- but the regs do not require a specific entry as long as you stay within the protected space.

so teardrop or parallel, both would be legal in the scenario.

Thanks for the info,I am aware of the idiosyncrasies of holding pattern entries but when the IFD draws a proper teardrop and the autopilot (STEC 3100) does not follow the pattern it is a little disconcerting. As stated, if this is an autopilot problem I will check with Stec.  Again, thanks for the input, Phil

It would be strange if the IFD is not providing the same track guidance to the a/p as the magenta line on the map, as long as you're in GPSS mode.
