I appreciate that the IFD will display the TAF and METAR data from an ADS-B input source, but please give me the option to read it as raw or undecoded data.  I find it easier and faster to read the encoded weather and pull out the data I need quickly.

On the FMS page under INFO before selecting the METAR I get a single line of the undecoded weather, unfortunately on the IFD440 the line isn't long enough to display the whole METAR and of course when I open the METAR I'm presented with a decoded version.

I understand some people prefer to get their weather decoded and that is a personal choice, but given the option I prefer it encoded, even more so when pulling the weather from a X-C trip, I can get METARs from 50+ stations, takes a lot let room to read it encoded.

If Avidyne really feels is necessary to decode weather than why not decode the remarks section of the METAR, some of them I know and can decode on my own but there are a lot that require a magic decoder ring to decipher.

I'm sure this is one of those hot button items like north up vs track up, or tastes great vs less filling.  All I'm asking for is the option.

Improve enroute frequency list for Europe. FIS frequencies are not listed today. Also some radar frequencies are missing in the UK.

Please go back to the old style yellow and red terrain proximity shading.  The new waffle style is a big step backward in my opinion.

VNAV compatibility with the S-TEC 3100 autopilot (along with Garmin G5, 275, TXI PFDs if possible).

I agree with going back to old style terrain proximity shading.

I'd also like to see a heading for hold entries, legs in the hold, etc. I appreciate the message that tells you how to enter the hold but the added situational awareness with a heading for each part of the hold would be nice. Similar to what Garmin GNS's displayed.

Ran into an interesting problem today, flew into B18 today (Alton Bay's Ice runway) and the airport was not in Jeppesen's database, and yes I had verified that "All Runway Surface types" was set in the user preferences, maybe I missed it elsewhere?

Ok, for problem 1 I sent a message to Jeppesen about the missing identifier.

This brings me to the feature/enhancement request...

I went to create a user waypoint by Lat/Long and looking at the Chart Supplement the position is N43°28.66' W71°12.22' however this is not the format the Avidyne wants, the Avidyne  does not want decimal minutes it wants Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds

so N43° 28.66  W71° 14.22  would need to be converted to N43° 28' 39"  W71° 14' 13"  I guessed at the conversion and got close enough but let me enter in the same format (or choose from multiple formats) the Chart Supplement uses.

Of course the best thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from.

There is a way to specify the lat/lon format in the setup, units dialog. Does this only refer to how points are displayed, and not how they are entered?

Actually, it wants whatever format is selected in the user settings.  Reference pp. 5-75 and 5-77 in your IFD500 Series Pilot Guide.

Done!

I'll have to test this,  (IFD400 has it on page 4-69 & 4-70)  but the manual says this is for display purposes.  The example for entering the waypoint only shows degrees, Minutes, & Seconds, it makes no mention of other available formats or referencing the User Profile for the format.

The display format and data entry format are the same thing, because you just place the cursor in the spot to change the data, and then you enter the data.  The screen doesn't redraw to show a different data format when you go to change the value.  The example shows D/M/S simply because that's the default.

You are correct, the manual however doesn't make the distinction, it just calls it "display format"

I think you're trying to read too much into it.  After being introduced to the data entry interface, the paradigm quickly becomes clear that to change the data in an editable field, you just...change the data in the field.  This is consistent throughout the interface.

All of the data is presented on a "display".  Data is also entered/edited on the "display".  The way the data appears on the display and the way the data is entered on the display is defined by the display format.

There's no distinction made in the manual because no distinction exists in the user interface.

I would like to see audible alerts for timers like switching tanks
