We have 5 Service Information Letters (SILs) posted on the Avidyne website at:

http://www.avidyne.com/support/downloads/ifd-series.asp" rel="nofollow - http://www.avidyne.com/support/downloads/ifd-series.asp

Not all apply to everybody so please open each to review.  I'll shortly post a summarizing matrix that identifies all published SILs, a short description of each, what configurations are affected and when the issues are expected to be resolved.

The four new ones that are published today will all be resolved in software release 10.0.2.0 in a few weeks.

In short:

"Potential Loss of Function" affects those folks who have a non-Avidyne or non-TIS traffic system connected to the IFD540.

"Frequency List Entry Sequence" affects everyone.

"IFD540 GPS Position Fix Loss" affects everyone.

"Integration Issues Using MapMx Protocol" affects those folks who connect their IFD540(s) to a G500, G600, MX20 or GMX200.

Are all new units being shipped with the MOD 2 hardware update as mentioned in 606-00182-001?

Yes, I believe so but I'll double check on Monday including the exact cut-over date.

Concerning the "frequency list entry" issue, would hitting the Clear button instead of the red X in this scenario be a suitable work around for now or does the Clear button elicit the same response?

Pressing the CLR button would work fine and not trigger the issue.

How will owners be made aware of software updates that are available to be loaded.  Will notification be on this forum, via email to the owners, or by checking on the Avidyne website?

All of the above (and eBulletins sent to all installers).

Reference the HW Mod 2 question a few entries above this one, I have confirmed that all new units shipping already have that mod.   We made the cut-over date in our factory 25 Sep 2014.   Any unit installed prior to that date does not have the mod and it's most likely that units installed up to a few weeks after that date also don't have the mod just based on time for the unit to leave the factory, arrive at the install shop and wait to be installed in the plane.

If you are experiencing the issue and have any question on whether or not your IFD540(s) need the mod, please call the Avidyne Service Center line and if able, supply your IFD serial number(s).
