Night flight today: I have an issue with the automatic dimming: It goes to full brightness. Then we cover the whole unit with a manual. Taking it away it is pleasantly dimmed. Seconds later again full brightness. Is this a bug?

Have a look at the several threads here about dimming settings. For you, setting the dimbus transition point to 1% or 2%, from the default 10%, will probably do the trick.
