The iPadOS setting, “Share With App Developers”, allows Apple to share anonymized and aggregated data with developers (like Avidyne) for their apps, like IFD Trainer and IFD100. If you enable this setting, we get the following categories of data:

  • Crash logs: stack traces, error codes, and conditions leading to a crash.
  • Performance metrics: launch times, hang reports, energy usage, memory usage, and responsiveness.
  • Device and iOS details: model type, iOS version, screen size, and region settings.
  • Usage: anonymized information about how ofter the app is opened and session length.

These details are particularly helpful for crashes. Depending on the type of crash, we may be able to immediately see the line in the code where the crash occurred. Here's an example:

The setting is configured in the Settings app > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Share with App Developers, shown here:

Before data is shared via Apple, your iPad must be connected to WiFi and connected to power.

TLDR. Enable “Share with App Developers” on your iPad in order to help Avidyne more immediately troubleshoot app crashes.
